Director Erin Farthing

Erin Farthing was confirmed as Director of the South Carolina State Accident Fund (SAF) in May 2023 by the South Carolina Senate after her appointment by Governor Henry McMaster.  Farthing previously served as Acting Director for SAF beginning in February 2021, while also serving as Chief Counsel.  Farthing first joined SAF in 2013.

Farthing is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and University of South Carolina School of Law.  Prior to joining SAF, Farthing worked in private practice for a Columbia law firm, focusing on insurance defense, including government and Section 1983 defense. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the U.S. District Court of South Carolina, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
